Biography

I studied at Southampton Institute of Higher Education, training as an illustrator gaining diplomas in Graphic Design, Design Illustration and Scientific Illustration.

stray cats art

I have tackled a variety of subjects through varied commissions nationwide including book illustrations, advertising literature, video covers and even pub signs!

In recent years, my main focus has been on Pet Portraits and Wildlife Art, producing stunning and sometimes stylised backgrounds focusing the eye on the subject matter, which when necessary, bring it to life in a wonderful partnership of movement and colour.

I work primarily in acrylics building up layers in my paintings, but I am also proficient as a pencil artist.

As well as success through established dealers and private commissions

The above image represents me very well as being the ‘stray cat!’

As well as success through established dealers and private commissions, I have sold successfully at Christie’s, South Kensington, London, the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art near Liverpool and the Marwell International Wildlife Art Society, near Winchester, where I have been a member since it’s inauguration in 1999. This venue has now changed location and the annual summer exhibition is held at Rookesbury Manor, Rookesbury Park School in Wickham.

I also turn my hand to other subject matter ranging from celebrity portraits to sports stars and events. I have also produced a stunning airbrush painting of the former ‘Spice Girl’, Melanie C, taken from her live performance at the Southampton Guildhall in May 2003, which she has signed.

In February of 2007 my artwork, ‘Meerkats at Play’, was accepted by the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation for the ‘Art For Survival Auction’ at Christie’s in May 2007. The artwork featured on the front cover of the catalogue where it sold and I received a ‘big thank you’ from David Shepherd himself!
